Extreme ramener and its effects were often seen in humans, by people watching the soldiers on parade at such events as the English ceremony of the "Trooping of the Colour". Soldiers with erect posture, but chins tucked into their larynx so that breathing was impeded, fell to the ground in large numbers. Insufficient oxygen affects balance and coordination as well as higher levels of brain function. It takes only a small, brief oxygen deficiency for some brain cells to be permanently damaged! This is not what we want, in order to have well-functioning, not to mention happy, horses or people!
